Low stakes question, but it has been bugging me for weeks. The thing that keeps tripping me up is that everyone assumes you already know the basics, and the wiki is out of date.

Not a complaint, just genuinely puzzled by the behaviour. What actually changed my results was slowing down and reading the tooltips properly instead of rushing.

Every guide I can find skips the part I am actually stuck on. The in-game explanation and the actual behaviour do not appear to match.
