[Marvel Rivals] Stutter on shader compilation — what actually fixes it

Every guide I can find skips the part I am actually stuck on. What confuses me is that it behaves differently depending on the order I do things in.

Every guide I can find skips the part I am actually stuck on. What confuses me is that it behaves differently depending on the order I do things in.

The thing that keeps tripping me up is that everyone assumes you already know the basics, and the wiki is out of date. Marking this solved once something actually works.

This is the bit people miss — check whether an overlay is running before blaming the game itself.

Slightly different take — worth testing on a second account to rule out something profile-specific.

Quick correction to the above: the community guide covers this better than I can, but the summary is to prioritise the basics first.

Adding to the above: verify the files before anything else; it catches more problems than people expect.

For what it is worth, it is almost always a setting rather than hardware, so try the free fixes before spending anything.

Not the answer you want, but check whether an overlay is running before blaming the game itself.

Had the exact same issue. it depends heavily on your specific setup, so take any single number with a grain of salt.

That fixed it for me, at least.

Worth checking first: the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.

I went through this last month. ignore the loudest advice; the boring answer is usually the correct one here.

Report back once you have tried it.

Quick correction to the above: the wiki number is theoretical; real results are always a bit lower.

I went through this last month. region and server load matter more than most guides acknowledge.

Quick correction to the above: this changed for me after the last patch, so older threads may steer you wrong.

Counterpoint: keep a note of what you changed, otherwise you cannot undo it cleanly later.

Slightly different take — if it only happens in one mode, that narrows it down considerably.

Worth a shot before anything drastic.

I went through this last month. temperature is the usual culprit when performance degrades over a session.
