   Reposting with more detail after my last thread got no traction. The default settings are clearly tuned for a different setup than mine.

   It seems to depend heavily on region, which nobody mentions anywhere. Marking this solved once something actually works.

   Counterpoint: temperature is the usual culprit when performance degrades over a session.

   That fixed it for me, at least.

   Adding to the above: the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.
