   Apologies if this has been covered — the older threads are all locked. Once it clicked, it felt obvious, but getting there took far longer than it should have.

   Still open to better approaches if anyone has one.

   For what it is worth, temperature is the usual culprit when performance degrades over a session.

   This comes up a lot, so: that behaviour is intentional, even though it is poorly explained in-game.

   Others may have a cleaner method.

   Quick correction to the above: you get most of the benefit from the first adjustment; everything after that is marginal.

    Depends on your setup, but broadly give it a clean reinstall before assuming the hardware is at fault.
