Which district did you settle in first? (second attempt)

Quick one for the people who have put more hours into this than me. Rolling back to the previous version made the problem disappear entirely.

Everything I read suggests it should just work, and for me it very much does not. Hopefully this saves someone else the afternoon it cost me.

For what it is worth, do the cheap diagnostic first — it costs nothing and rules out half the causes.

I went through this last month. the trick is to change one thing at a time and actually note the result before touching anything else.

For what it is worth, the safe move is the reversible one — you can always undo it if it makes things worse.

Adding to the above: if it only happens in one mode, that narrows it down considerably.
