   I searched first and found three threads that all contradict each other. The numbers look fine on paper, but it feels noticeably worse in practice.

   Once it clicked, it felt obvious, but getting there took far longer than it should have. Will update the post if I find a cleaner solution.

   For what it is worth, temperature is the usual culprit when performance degrades over a session.

   Depends on your setup, but broadly this changed for me after the last patch, so older threads may steer you wrong.

   I went through this last month. the averages hide the problem; look at the one percent lows instead.

    For what it is worth, the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.

    Let us know which part worked.
