PC performance settings that helped most — any change since the patch?

Adding my findings in case they help someone. Turning one setting down fixed it, which raises more questions than it answers.

Everything I read suggests it should just work, and for me it very much does not. Happy to be told I am overthinking it.

Depends on your setup, but broadly region and server load matter more than most guides acknowledge.

Speaking as someone who got it wrong initially, you get most of the benefit from the first adjustment; everything after that is marginal.

Same boat here. keep a note of what you changed, otherwise you cannot undo it cleanly later.

In my testing, do not copy someone else’s config wholesale — start from defaults and adjust to your own setup.

Speaking as someone who got it wrong initially, the averages hide the problem; look at the one percent lows instead.

Agreed on most of this, except you get most of the benefit from the first adjustment; everything after that is marginal.

Worth a shot before anything drastic.
