Best early characters to build in NTE — console side

Bit of a niche question, but this seems like the right crowd for it. The in-game explanation and the actual behaviour do not appear to match.

I assumed it was a known issue, but I cannot find anyone else describing it. Hopefully this saves someone else the afternoon it cost me.

Agreed on most of this, except the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.

The usual fix here is do not copy someone else’s config wholesale — start from defaults and adjust to your own setup.
