Audio mix seems off in cutscenes for anyone else? (veteran perspective)

Finally worked this out, so here is the write-up I wish I had found. I compared notes with a friend and we got completely different outcomes on similar hardware.

    Quick correction to the above: worth testing on a second account to rule out something profile-specific.

    I went through this last month. temperature is the usual culprit when performance degrades over a session.
