What are you playing this week? (February)

Every guide I can find skips the part I am actually stuck on. Two settings appear to interact in a way the menu does not hint at.

I compared notes with a friend and we got completely different outcomes on similar hardware. I can post logs or screenshots if that would make this easier to diagnose.

I went through this last month. the difference is real but small enough that you may not notice it while playing.

Slightly different take — check whether an overlay is running before blaming the game itself.

Short version: region and server load matter more than most guides acknowledge.

Adding to the above: the safe move is the reversible one — you can always undo it if it makes things worse.

Short version: it is almost always a setting rather than hardware, so try the free fixes before spending anything.

This is the bit people miss — give it a clean reinstall before assuming the hardware is at fault.

Not the answer you want, but it is almost always a setting rather than hardware, so try the free fixes before spending anything.

Report back once you have tried it.

Short version: the trick is to change one thing at a time and actually note the result before touching anything else.

From experience, do not copy someone else’s config wholesale — start from defaults and adjust to your own setup.

Only partly related, but you get most of the benefit from the first adjustment; everything after that is marginal.

Report back once you have tried it.

Same boat here. verify the files before anything else; it catches more problems than people expect.

Depends on your setup, but broadly if it only happens in one mode, that narrows it down considerably.

Only partly related, but nine times out of ten it is a driver or a background process, not the thing you suspect.

Speaking as someone who got it wrong initially, it is almost always a setting rather than hardware, so try the free fixes before spending anything.

The usual fix here is verify the files before anything else; it catches more problems than people expect.

Not the answer you want, but this changed for me after the last patch, so older threads may steer you wrong.

This comes up a lot, so: worth testing on a second account to rule out something profile-specific.

Quick correction to the above: measure before and after, otherwise you are just guessing whether it helped.
