   Been chewing on this for a while, so I figured I would ask here. The numbers look fine on paper, but it feels noticeably worse in practice.

   I compared notes with a friend and we got completely different outcomes on similar hardware. Corrections welcome, especially if I got a detail wrong.

    Had the exact same issue. that behaviour is intentional, even though it is poorly explained in-game.

    Others may have a cleaner method.

    Speaking as someone who got it wrong initially, the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.

    Depends on your setup, but broadly it is almost always a setting rather than hardware, so try the free fixes before spending anything.

    Others may have a cleaner method.
