Controller detected in Windows but not in game
Apologies if this has been covered — the older threads are all locked. It seems to depend heavily on region, which nobody mentions anywhere.

Hopefully this saves someone else the afternoon it cost me.

In my testing, the wiki number is theoretical; real results are always a bit lower.

Depends on your setup, but broadly ignore the loudest advice; the boring answer is usually the correct one here.
NENeonloop #5@neonloop · 15 Jun 2026, 15:21
From experience, if it only happens in one mode, that narrows it down considerably.
NINightshard #7NightshardMod@nightshard · 16 Jun 2026, 23:58
This is the bit people miss — check whether an overlay is running before blaming the game itself.
DNDeniz N. #8@deniz_n · 17 Jun 2026, 02:15
Only partly related, but you get most of the benefit from the first adjustment; everything after that is marginal.
EMEmbershade #9@embershade85 · 17 Jun 2026, 13:58
This is the bit people miss — the averages hide the problem; look at the one percent lows instead.
ZEZephyrash #10@zephyrash · 18 Jun 2026, 22:31
Adding to the above: do not copy someone else’s config wholesale — start from defaults and adjust to your own setup.
ONOnyxshade #11@onyxshade40 · 19 Jun 2026, 01:27
This comes up a lot, so: if it only happens in one mode, that narrows it down considerably.
Others may have a cleaner method.

I went through this last month. give it a clean reinstall before assuming the hardware is at fault.
Others may have a cleaner method.
FRFrostfox #14@frostfox · 20 Jun 2026, 15:32
This comes up a lot, so: it depends heavily on your specific setup, so take any single number with a grain of salt.
SASaberflare #15@saberflare85 · 21 Jun 2026, 09:55
The usual fix here is the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.
DPDamian Piszczek #16Damian PiszczekAdmin@damianpiszczek · 22 Jun 2026, 05:35
Not the answer you want, but nine times out of ten it is a driver or a background process, not the thing you suspect.
PKPilot KX #18Pilot KXMod@pilot_kx · 22 Jun 2026, 15:49
Quick correction to the above: the averages hide the problem; look at the one percent lows instead.
