Fortnite code worked on one account but not the other

Coming back after a long break and trying to catch up. I compared notes with a friend and we got completely different outcomes on similar hardware.

It only shows up after about twenty minutes, which made it a nightmare to reproduce. Hopefully this saves someone else the afternoon it cost me.

From experience, temperature is the usual culprit when performance degrades over a session.

Others may have a cleaner method.

In my testing, the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.

Short version: it is almost always a setting rather than hardware, so try the free fixes before spending anything.
