Worth checking first: do not copy someone else’s config wholesale — start from defaults and adjust to your own setup.

Quick correction to the above: nine times out of ten it is a driver or a background process, not the thing you suspect.

Not the answer you want, but ignore the loudest advice; the boring answer is usually the correct one here.

Speaking as someone who got it wrong initially, temperature is the usual culprit when performance degrades over a session.

Report back once you have tried it.

The usual fix here is do not copy someone else’s config wholesale — start from defaults and adjust to your own setup.

Agreed on most of this, except do the cheap diagnostic first — it costs nothing and rules out half the causes.

Good luck, it is a common snag.

From experience, that behaviour is intentional, even though it is poorly explained in-game.

I went through this last month. the wiki number is theoretical; real results are always a bit lower.

Worth a shot before anything drastic.

Quick correction to the above: the trick is to change one thing at a time and actually note the result before touching anything else.

The usual fix here is worth testing on a second account to rule out something profile-specific.

For what it is worth, do not copy someone else’s config wholesale — start from defaults and adjust to your own setup.

This is the bit people miss — the safe move is the reversible one — you can always undo it if it makes things worse.

Depends on your setup, but broadly give it a clean reinstall before assuming the hardware is at fault.

Others may have a cleaner method.
