Beginner tips before you start NTE — revisited

Not sure if this is the right board, move me if needed. Half the advice online is a year out of date, which is why I wanted a current thread.

I will report back once I have tested it properly.

In my testing, do the cheap diagnostic first — it costs nothing and rules out half the causes.

Agreed on most of this, except temperature is the usual culprit when performance degrades over a session.

Let us know which part worked.

From experience, it depends heavily on your specific setup, so take any single number with a grain of salt.

Only partly related, but verify the files before anything else; it catches more problems than people expect.
