Is the War Thunder community as friendly as people say?

Every guide I can find skips the part I am actually stuck on. Two settings appear to interact in a way the menu does not hint at.

The default settings are clearly tuned for a different setup than mine. Any pointers appreciated, even partial ones.

The usual fix here is keep a note of what you changed, otherwise you cannot undo it cleanly later.

Speaking as someone who got it wrong initially, you get most of the benefit from the first adjustment; everything after that is marginal.
